In this assignment we had 6 weeks to choose an image that we want to re-create. I knew i wanted to do a beauty shot/fashion type of image and in the end i chose the close-up beauty shot. I found the task ok but when it came to editing it took a while because i wanted the attention to detail. I kept looking at the original image and tried to match it as close as i could. I think the image that i made was good and quite close to the original and i am happy with the way it turned out.
If i were to do the task again i would probably choose a model with a paler skin tone but other than that i think im pleased with the outcome.

Second edit...
After comparing my copy to the actual image i decided to edit it again and try to make the skin colour lighter.
This is how close i could match it:

My copied image...
These are the photo's of me carrying out the task and taking my photo's.
To re-create this photo i had to ask Kayleigh to do her make-up and get her hair up out of her face to try and get her to look like the model in the image. We set up the studio for a beauty shot with the lights just focussed on her face.
Once all the photos were taken i took the camera and uploaded all my images and chose the one closest to the image to work on. I edited the image in photoshop, i made Kayleigh's lips bigger and changed the colour of her skin and smoothed the face and added shine by putting vaseline on her face. I also enhanced the colour of her eye to try and get it as close to the copied image as possible.
How my photograph is similar to the chosen photographers work...
Both mine and the original photographers images were taken in colour, taken as a beauty shot and was a close up shot. My photo is obviously edited more than the original but other than that i dont think the quality difference is that bad. I think both images send out the same message it could be a make-up advert or just a normal beauty shot. Both images were taken indoors which is another similarity.
Copying a photo
This is the image i chose to try and copy, Im going to photograph Kayleigh in the studio to try and get the image as close to the original as i can.

Creating my own painted image
Today we had to take a picture of someone on an interesting background from head to toe and upload it to photoshop and change it to black and white. Once we'd done this we had to print it out and paint over the image making it as colourful as we could.
This is my final image, once the photo dried we scanned the image back into the computer.
Painting over black and white images
Hand-colouring (or hand-coloring) refers to any method of manually adding colour to a black-and-white photograph, generally either to heighten the realism of the photograph or for artistic purposes. Hand-colouring is also known as hand painting or overpainting.
Typically, watercolours, oils, crayons or pastels, and other paints or dyes are applied to the image surface using brushes, fingers, cotton swabs or airbrushes. Hand-coloured photographs were most popular in the mid- to late-19th century before the invention of colour photography and some firms specialized in producing hand-coloured photographs.
